== History ==
Ben F. Gentry began selling cars in 1939 for his father in the Ford Dealership in Bowling Green Missouri. In September of 1989 Ben opened Gentry Motor Company Inc. in Macomb Illinois. In 1992 Ben was voted Illinois Independent Auto Dealers Association Dealer of the Year. Ben Gentry was known throughout the industry as a straightforward man, who believed in success through honest hard work. Ben was a true "car guy" his knowledge and experience earned the respect of other dealers and customers as well. Many in the industry sought after his approach to sales. Dealers from around Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri often sent their employees to Ben for professional training. There are many successful people in the car business, and other sales-related industries that were taught by Ben. Ben was the son of Ben G. Gentry who got his start in selling for the Hostess Company. He moved on to the car business as a Ford dealer in Vandalia, Missouri then Bowling Green, and later in Macomb, Illinois until 1978.

Today Gentry Motor Company Inc. is owned and operated by Ben "John" Gentry. John Gentry joined his father in 1994 as a sales counselor. The "No Haggle" approach to car sales was a good fit for John. His belief is that each customer should be treated the same and that buying a car from a dealer should be enjoyable for the customer. John has taken the business into the 21st century by implementing standards and procedures that are tailored to the Internet customer while still maintaining the integrity of the two generations prior to him. In 2008 Gentry Motor Company attained accreditation from the Better Business Bureau ([www.bbb.org]) and maintains an '''A+''' rating. In addition to the car business John has been very active in the community through organizing and coaching with programs such as the Macomb Little League and Y.M.C.A. youth athletics as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the Macomb Chamber of Commerce, McDonough County Y.M.C.A., and the W.I.U. Performing Arts Society.

Sales counselors are paid a flat salary plus bonuses based on volume, not a commission based on price. A warranty with coverage of 50% of labor and parts on the power train of each vehicle is offered on nearly all vehicles offered for sale regardless of miles and age. Online pricing, pictures, and a pre-paid CARFAX report is available on each car. Each price is GUARANTEED to be the lowest price in the local market, assuming identical year, make, model, equipment, miles, and condition. Interest rates through Gentry Motor Company are GUARANTEED to be the lowest rate available to any customer through a local bank assuming identical terms and conditions of the competing institution. An independent garage inspects almost all vehicles prior to being offered for sale, this report is in writing and offers a customer the opportunity to have an unbiased third party opinion before they make the purchase.
